27 Apr LABOUR MARKET INFORMATION (LMI) Help Desk Service Expands Across Eastern Ontario
Monday, April 19, 2021, Ottawa, ON
The Ottawa Employment Hub is collaborating with local workforce planning boards to expand LMI Help Desk services in Eastern Ontario to Ottawa and surrounding region through an Ontario Labour Market Partnership project funded by the Ministry of Labour, Training and Skills Development.
Using processes and enhanced marketing developed by Workforce Development Board (WDB) based in Peterborough, Ottawa Employment Hub will implement an LMI Help Desk service for Ottawa and the surrounding region. WDB currently offers a LMI Help Desk service that provides their local region of Northumberland, Peterborough, Kawartha Lakes and Haliburton with an on demand LMI service for individuals to submit questions about the local labour market. With this information they gain a better understanding of labour market trends, local occupations and wages, demographics, top industries in the region and more.
WDB’s LMI Help Desk currently answers a range of questions where the information and data analysis provided has a positive impact on the local labour market. This information has been used to support the development of education and skills training programs, grant applications, recruitment by local employers, career planning and knowledge of local industry trends.
Expanding the LMI Help Desk service across Eastern Ontario can assist employment support agencies, economic developers, industry associations, employers, educators, and individuals by providing information to support a better understanding of the local labour market.
