Electricity Human Resources Canada, Empowering Futures: Developing Electricity Talent. For Canadian employers who are engaged with the energy, manufacturing, and green economy sectors, EHRC has the ability to partially fund a co-op student’s work-term. The proportion of wages subsidized by EHRC is higher for employers who hire from underrepresented groups (e.g. women, Indigenous peoples, persons with disabilities). email@example.com
MTCU, Graduated Apprenticeship Grant for Employers. Train an apprentice in one of over 100 eligible skilled trades and you could receive up to $16,700. This graduated apprenticeship operates on a levelling system where the higher training level achieved by your apprentice, the higher the grant becomes. With each milestone achieved you can also qualify for a $500 bonus. There is also an extra bonus if your apprentice comes from an underrepresented group. Additionally, if you can employ your apprentice through to the Certificate stage you can get significantly more. Ontario Ministry of Finance, Ontario Production Services Tax Credit. Grants Ontario, Tourism Development Fund. Helps organizations recoup some of the costs with developing and delivering quality tourism products. There are three different streams of funding; Tourism Product Development, Tourism Investment Attraction and Industry Capacity Building Stream. Ministry of Economic Development and Growth, Jobs and Prosperity Fund: Food and Beverage Growth Fund. The Food and Beverage Growth Fund targets businesses that are focused on food, beverage and bioproduct project that aim to: help create and retain jobs, strengthen supply chains, enhance innovation and productivity, and increase market access. Project funding can come in the form of: a loan, grant, or a combination of the two. The maximum amount of funding available can cover up to 40% of eligible project costs, so organizations must have access to sufficient funding.
Canadian Council for Aviation & Aerospace, The Student Work-Integrated Learning Program, Employers who are involved in the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) and business, can hire a student under the wage-subsidized work-integrated learning program. CCAA can subsidize up to 50 % (to a maximum of $5 000) of the costs associated with hiring a student. Employers who hire a student from an underrepresented group, or a first-year student, may be eligible for additional wage subsidies of up to 70% (to a maximum of $7 000). 613-727-8272

Ministry of Research and Innovation and Science, Ontario’s Youth Business Acceleration Program. This funding package is available for young entrepreneurs (aged 18-29) who are interested in developing a technology company. Mitacs, Career Connect. Mitacs Career Connect is a wage subsidy program that supports six-month placements for organizations interested in hiring recent post-secondary graduates for green jobs in science, technology, engineering or math fields, for a six-month placement valued at $20,000 to $25,000, subsidized by Mitacs at up to 50%.
National Research Council of Canada, Industrial Research Program. NRC Industrial Research Assistance Program (NRC IRAP) provides financial support to qualified small and medium-sized enterprises in Canada to help them undertake technology innovation. 1-877-994-4727
Colleges and Institutes Canada (CICan), Natural Resource Internships. Environment and Climate Change Canada, Science Horizons Youth Internship Program. Science Horizons supports green jobs for youth by providing wage subsidies of up to $15,000.00 to eligible employers to hire interns in environmental and clean technology sectors. Interns must be recent college or university graduates eligible to work in science, technology, engineering or math (STEM).
Eco Canada, Wage Subsidy to hire Environmental Students. For employers who are involved in the environmental sector, ECO Canada can provide up to 50% of a Co-op student’s pay. Student Work Placement Program, Biotalent Canada. Export Market Access program. The Export Market Access program offers grants that cover up to 50% of the direct costs of accessing and expanding into export markets. For example, marketing, networking and bidding on foreign projects.
Mining Industry Human Resource Council, MiHR’s Gearing Up Program is the Work Integrated Learning (WIL) Program for Canada’s mining sector. Led by MiHR, Gearing Up will create over 1000 new WIL opportunities in mining. Wage subsidies up to $7,000 are available to employers who create new WIL opportunities such as co‑ops, internships, field placements, applied projects, capstone projects or case competitions.
